Our Story

Welcome to Tulum, a place that we call home; where we can touch the sea water and our soul feels one with nature!

Your Host:

Christina

Hi everyone!  My name is Christina Chávez. I am a Mexican-American originally from Omaha, Nebraska USA. Yes, I was born and raised in the U.S. but I was brought up with a deep relationship with my Mexican heritage. I grew up visiting Mexico multiple times a year, visiting family and creating memories surrounding my Mexican culture in Mexico! Even with such a rich upbringing, I always felt there was more. That’s why I decided to start exploring Tulum in 2016. In 2018, I wanted to grow in my Yoga practice and knew I wanted to learn more from the country my father is originally from. Tulum called me back! I chose Tulum because I was attracted to the beach, the calming cool colors, the sounds of the ocean, and the bright abundance of the living greenery. What surprised me here was spirituality and its strength. I went back to the U.S. for a few months but I knew I had to make the leap of faith a move here full time.

Living in Tulum has brought me so much wisdom and learning lessons to help heal not only myself but others. I take pride in working and being friends with local Mayan indigenous people, Latino healers, and artists. I have and am continuing my yoga studies. I have completed 500 RYT, Prenatal Yoga, and Reiki training. I have also studied along with Indigenous women, learning various healing techniques and ceremonial rituals. I love being a student myself.

As your host, I hope to show you the light of Tulum, to give you the local experience and have you fall in love with this place as much as I have! As a teacher, my intention is to bring lightness, joy, and a journey inward so you can get to know your true authentic self a little better.

The Villa

Casa Madrigal

Madrigal is the maiden name of my father’s mother (my grandmother). I wanted to honor my family in a feminine way and knew right away I would name it after my grandmother. I looked up the meaning of Madrigal and discovered it means “a mother’s womb” and “a love poem.” After receiving this information, it was the confirmation I needed for the perfect name for your home away from home!
